Hello – Bonjour, from the MAGMA Language School team! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are thrilled to welcome you to our page and share with you a little bit about our Language School world. With a team from over 12 countries from around the world and over 15 spoken languages, we mean it when we say that languages are our passion and setting newcomers up for success in their new home and community in our region is our commitment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Learning a new language is more than just learning to speak, listen, read and write in a new language; it is a magical key to unlocking new cultures, exploring new ways of communicating, and building social and professional bonds with new communities that one calls home. Learning a new language takes courage, is exciting and empowering and it creates endless opportunities, yet it does not come without challenges. At the MAGMA Language School, we understand that equipping newcomers with the right tools and cultural knowledge to connect and communicate efficiently with their new communities is key to helping them succeed on social, professional and economic levels – and we always take pride in being part of the newcomers settlement and integration journey.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The past three months have been full of exciting moments! Here\u2019s a quick look at what\u2019s been happening from December to March:<\/p>\n<\/div>

\"\"Fun Friday for Evening Classes (Rap Battle)\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

On January 9th, teacher Camila and her students turned language learning into an unforgettable adventure!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Inspired by the Cast Away movie trailer, students explored a creative \u201cstranded on an island\u201d scenario using real-life items brought from home, from sunblock and soap to tape and even pet clothes. Working in teams, learners discussed and debated which items would be most essential for survival, building their critical thinking and speaking skills as they justified their choices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The excitement didn\u2019t stop there! Students then took on a lively rap battle challenge, using AI tools to generate school-appropriate rhymes about their chosen survival items. With a background beat setting the tone, lights dimmed for atmosphere, and plenty of clapping, choreography, and team spirit, \u201cTeam Soap\u201d and \u201cTeam Tape\u201d delivered an epic performance. The activity was a powerful reminder that language learning can be dynamic, creative, and full of confidence-building moments, a night our students will not soon forget.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Library Outing\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h5>\n

On February 2<\/span>nd<\/span>, teacher Kateryna and her CLB 5\/6 class had a wonderful time at the library watching the movie <\/span>The Secret Order<\/span><\/i>. The film explores the history of Francophone Canadians in Atlantic Canada, and everyone found it both engaging and educational. What made it even more special was seeing so many familiar places from Moncton on screen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The students especially enjoyed that the story is rooted in Atlantic Canada, and in Moncton in particular. They were excited to recognize local scenery, buildings, and community landmarks. It made the history feel much closer to home.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the film, they also learned more about the history of organizations they are already familiar with and gained a deeper appreciation for the efforts that led to New Brunswick becoming Canada\u2019s only officially bilingual province. It was a meaningful experience that helped connect our students to the rich Francophone heritage of our region.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"The Greater Moncton Newcomer Settlement Fair<\/span><\/b><\/h5>\n

On February 4th, Teacher Polina and her CLB 5 students attended the Greater Moncton Newcomer Settlement Fair.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An inspiring community event designed to connect newcomers with essential local resources. The visit provided learners with valuable, real-world learning opportunities as they explored a wide range of programs and services available in the Greater Moncton area. Students engaged directly with organizations offering immigrant settlement support, language services, free community programs, and sports and recreation activities. Beyond gathering information, learners practiced their communication skills, asked thoughtful questions, and gained greater confidence navigating services that support successful settlement in Moncton. The experience was both meaningful and empowering, strengthening their awareness of the vibrant community resources available to them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
